Welcome to Mrs Rice's class, Woodpeckers. I love teaching in Year 1 and especially love anything creative. I also love working out in the garden and in our amazing woodlands. 

In Year 1/2 we love exploring and learning new things through play. We have lots of continuous provision which enables the children to be fully involved in practical learning experiences. We are extremely lucky to have our own woodland in school, which we love to use as much as we can. Each week we visit the woods and try out lots of new things that link to our learning and also develop lots of other skills too.

In Year 1/2 we learn lots of exciting things.  One year, we learn about the Arctic, Thomas Barnado, how we can find our way in the world using maps, how Christmas began and learn about Ravenshead in the past and compare it to life there now.  The next year, we learn about how we can show courage, heroes, how Peru compares to England, what pirates discovered abouthe world and how women in medicine changed the world.  It's going to be great learning together!
