At Ravenshead C of E Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels that they belong, is valued and is able to thrive. Inclusion sits at the heart of our school ethos and is a key part of our commitment to providing the best possible education for every pupil. 

We recognise that children have different starting points, strengths and needs. Our approach is therefore centred on high-quality inclusive teaching, early identification of need and providing the right support at the right time. We work closely with children, families, staff and external professionals to remove barriers to learning and participation wherever possible. 

Our inclusive provision includes support for pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils, children with social, emotional and mental health needs, and any child who may experience barriers to learning or participation. Our Assistant Head Teacher for Inclusion helps to coordinate this work across school, supported by our dedicated staff team and two full-time nurture workers, who provide additional pastoral and emotional support for children who need it. 

We are proud of the wider opportunities that contribute to our inclusive approach, including our nurture provision, OPAL play and extensive school woodland, alongside targeted academic and pastoral support. We want all children to be able to participate fully in school life, develop confidence and independence, build positive relationships and achieve well. 

Our approach is underpinned by the principle that inclusion is everybody's responsibility. Teachers remain responsible for the progress and development of every pupil in their class, with adaptations and additional support used to enable children to access ambitious learning alongside their peers. 

Our Inclusion Strategy 2026–2027 

2026–2027 is the first academic year in which schools are required to publish an Inclusion Strategy. Our strategy sets out how we identify and respond to barriers to learning, the provision we have in place, and the actions we are taking to strengthen inclusive practice further. 

It also explains how inclusion links to our wider school improvement priorities and how we will monitor the impact of our work to ensure that every child at Ravenshead has the opportunity to belong, participate, achieve and flourish.
