Online Safety Information
Online Safety
Keeping our children safe online is a key priority at our school. Online safety is taught explicitly and progressively and is embedded within our curriculum and wider school life, ensuring that pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to navigate the digital world safely.
Children learn about online safety through:
- Regular class-based discussions, where current and relevant online safety themes are explored in an age-appropriate way
- Computing and PSHE lessons, using Purple Mash and 1Decision curriculum overviews, where pupils are taught how to use technology responsibly, respectfully and safely
- Planned opportunities across the curriculum, reinforcing messages about privacy, consent, digital footprints and respectful online behaviour
Pupils are taught how to:
- Keep personal information private and secure
- Recognise unsafe or inappropriate online content or behaviour
- Understand the importance of kindness, respect and consent online
- Know what to do and who to speak to if something online makes them feel uncomfortable, worried or unsafe
Online safety education also supports pupils’ understanding of British Values, including individual liberty, mutual respect and the rule of law, and promotes respect for others and equality. Children are encouraged to reflect on how online behaviour can impact others and to challenge harmful or discriminatory content.
