Ravenshead C of E Anti-bullying Ambassadors

Every child in school is aware that bullying at Ravenshead C of E will not be tolerated and what to do if they witness/ experience it.

Every child is encouraged to be an upstander not a bystander.

Key Stage 2 has a group of about 20 children who are our School Anti-bullying Ambassadors (ABA).

These children can be identified by their red anti-bullying ambassador lanyards. They help to promote antibullying and have regularly meetings with Mrs Richardson the anti-bullying lead.

They decide as a group which areas of anti-bullying we need to work on in school and then they deliver termly class-based sessions around that topic.

Past topics have included:

• Racism
• Protected Characteristics
• Online/ cyber bullying
• Managing conflict
• Neurodiversity

Anti-bullying week is celebrated every November and the whole school participates in activities.

The Anti-bullying Ambassadors lead a whole school collective worship based on the theme and help to support classes by delivering additional sessions/activities.

Every year, to aid transition in the Summer Term, the Anti-bullying Ambassadors deliver an anti-bullying collective worship to KS1 to help prepare them for life in KS2.

Anti-bullying Week 2026

The theme this year is ‘Break the Silence. Children will be taking part in sessions linked to this and our KS2 Anti-bullying Ambassadors will be delivering a whole school collective worship.

Odd Socks Day will kick everything off for us on Monday 16^th November – children and adults in school will be invited to wear odd socks to celebrate our differences and uniqueness!

We regularly talk about bullying in school and what to do if you see bullying behaviour or feel you are being bullied; Anti-bullying week is the perfect opportunity to reinforce these messages.

Anti-bullying Week 2025

Anti-bullying Week took place Week Wc. 10^th November. ‘Odd Socks Day’ kicked off our week on Monday 10^th November – children, staff and parents were invited to wear odd socks on to help celebrate our differences.

The theme was ‘Power for Good’. Children took part in sessions linked to this and our KS2 Anti-bullying Ambassadors delivered a whole school Collective Worship on Tuesday. All children contributed to our anti-bullying display with messages as to how they can use their ‘Power for Good’.

Anti-bullying Week - November, 2024.

We enjoyed a week of celebrating our differences and learning about the importance of respect. ‘Odd Socks Day’– children, staff and parents were invited to wear odd socks on to help celebrate our differences.

The theme this year is ‘Choose Respect’. Children took part in sessions in school and the anti-bullying ambassadors delivered a collective worship to KS2.

Our school is a place where everyone has the right to be themselves. It is a place where everyone can feel safe, be happy and learn. Everyone at our school is included and acts with respect and kindness towards each other. Our school takes bullying VERY seriously, no matter who you are.

Throughout the school year, we reinforce the anti-bullying message in a variety of ways:

• Promoting and taking part in National Anti-bullying week in November each year.

• Having a dedicated member of staff as the anti-bullying lead – Mrs Richardson.

• All staff are available to support and deal with any issues of bullying.

• Ensuring the children know who they can approach/ talk to if they/ someone they know is being bullied

• KS2 anti-bullying ambassadors – this invaluable team of children help to promote the anti-bullying message daily

• Anti-bullying collective worships and class based sessions – delivered at least once a term

• Worry boxes in class

• PSHE sessions to reinforce the anti-bullying message

• Keeping Safe Week
