Welcome to F2 Butterflies! 🦋

A very warm welcome to Butterflies Class! We are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with fun, friendship, exploration and learning. As the children continue their Early Years journey, we encourage them to become increasingly confident, curious and independent learners.

Our vibrant Early Years environment is packed with opportunities to play, explore, investigate and discover. Children can enjoy our home corner and role-play areas, construction, creative art, play dough, sand, maths, mark-making and reading, alongside lots of other exciting activities linked to their interests and learning. Our outdoor area is always a favourite, with water play, a mud kitchen, climbing, a music and dance stage, dressing up and our garden area.

🌳 Into the Woods

Each week, we head out for our special visit to the woods. Whatever the weather, there is always something new to discover as we explore nature, notice the changing seasons, investigate the world around us and enjoy learning in the great outdoors.

Friday Fun!

Fridays bring even more excitement with our Friday Fun sessions – climbing aboard the pirate ship, pedalling our bikes, playing ball games and enjoying other physical activities that help to develop coordination, confidence and teamwork.

 Alongside learning through play, we continue to build and strengthen the foundations for future learning. Children develop their skills in phonics and reading, become increasingly confident writers, and develop their handwriting and letter formation. In maths, we build a secure understanding of number, pattern, shape and mathematical thinking through practical activities, games and problem-solving.

Throughout F2, we also encourage children to develop the independence, resilience and confidence they need to tackle new challenges, share their ideas, work with others and prepare for the exciting transition into Year 1.

Our Topics

Throughout the year, our learning takes us on three exciting adventures:

🏡 Autumn – Where Do We Live?

Exploring our homes and the people, places and buildings in our local community, as well as learning about special events, celebrations and traditions both at home and around the world.

🌳 Spring – What Can We Find in the Woods?

Investigating plants, animals and their habitats, observing changes in the natural world and discovering how we can help to care for our environment.

🦸 Summer – Who Will Save the Day?

An exciting adventure into the world of knights, dragons and superheroes, inspiring storytelling, imagination, creativity and lots of exciting learning!
