Caterpillars (F1) - Ms Blakey and Ms Musson
Welcome to F1 Caterpillars Class!
In F1 Caterpillars, our dedicated Early Years team is here to nurture and support your little ones as they begin their exciting learning journey. We believe in learning through play—where fun, curiosity and adventure help children grow, explore and build lessons for life.
Our little Caterpillars thrive in an environment designed to spark imagination and independence. Children relish opportunities to:
Build big constructions
Get creative in the painting and junk-modelling areas
Explore woodwork
Step into character in our role-play and music spaces
Practise mark-making with a variety of materials
Enjoy water, sand and playdough play
Prepare their own snacks
Relax and unwind in our calming sensory corner
Our dedicated outdoor area extends learning beyond the classroom, as well as weekly visits to the woods and our much-loved ‘Friday Fun’, featuring trikes and bikes, hula hoops, bat and ball games, and adventures clambering on the pirate ship.
Alongside play-based exploration, we begin building solid foundations in Maths and Phonics, helping children to grow in confidence as they build their understanding of early numeracy, listening skills, nursery rhymes and stories, mark-making and problem solving.
This year our topic work explores three exciting themes:
1. Who Am I? – We discover what makes each of us unique, celebrate our families and strengths, and learn about healthy habits and special family traditions.
2. Where Do We Live? – We explore our homes and community, and compare how people live in different parts of the world.
3. Why is Water Important? – We investigate living things, the water cycle, and the importance of keeping our water clean and unpolluted.
We support every child to become independent, resilient, caring team players, ready to take on the world!
