Rabbits (Year 1) - Mrs Walker and Mrs Swanston
Welcome to Year One! We are delighted to begin this exciting journey with your child and your family. This year will be filled with curiosity, growth, and new adventures in learning, and we look forward to supporting each child as they develop both academically and socially.
As you will be aware, Mrs Swanston and I proudly share the role of the Rabbits Class teacher. Together, we work hard to ensure our classroom is a place where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, collaborate, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.
So, a little bit about us both…
Mrs Walker
I am very lucky to say that after a lot of years I am still in love with teaching! I love teaching all subjects but my favourite lesson to teach is English. I try to make every lesson memorable with a touch of magic! There is no better feeling than to see the children’s eyes light up at a new concept or to feel their sense of pride when they succeed in a subject.
Outside of school, I enjoy time with my two daughters, hikes in the peak district, reading and live music!
Mrs Swanston
Hello! I absolutely love teaching Year 1. There’s something truly special about this age group. I’m particularly passionate about phonics and early reading, always on the lookout for delightful new children’s books to share with my class. It brings me such joy to watch them discover the magic of reading.
When I’m not in the classroom, you can often find me outdoors with my children. We adore spending time with our little Shetland loan pony, who adds a sprinkle of joy to our days with his cheeky antics, like rolling in muddy patches. Family cycle rides are another favourite pastime; nothing beats the fresh air and time spent together!
Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions, concerns, or simply to share something wonderful about your child. We are excited to work together to make this year a positive, memorable experience for everyone.
